How to Get a Library Card

Billerica Residents:
A library card is available to all Billerica residents and property owners, as well as those employed in town. Print and fill out our patron Registration Form below and bring it to the Billerica Public Library with a photo ID and proof of residence (preferably a Driver’s license. New residents can bring a lease, utility bill, etc.)

Please note: Library cards need to be renewed every three years.

Can Children/Teens get library cards?

  • Children five years and older may obtain a card with a parent’s or guardian’s signature from the Children’s Room.
  • Caregivers who get a card in a child’s name assume the responsibility for all items checked out on that card.
  • Teens 14 and over with a school photo ID can sign for their own card.

Other Massachusetts Residents:
Billerica is a member of the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC). If you live in a town that is a member of the MVLC, you need to obtain a library card from your hometown library. Your hometown library card is valid in any library in the consortium. Massachusetts residents living outside the Merrimack Valley Consortium may have their cards linked to MVLC. If they do not have a card from their home library a temporary card (valid for 30 days) can be given to them for immediate checkout.

Out of State Residents:
The Billerica Public Library will issue a card, free of charge, to any out-of-state resident. This card will be valid for borrowing from Billerica’s collection only.
