The Library has thousands of books in a variety of formats to help students achieve their reading goals. If popular titles aren't immediately available consider putting them on request but please start early!
2016 is using the same list and instructions as 2015
From the Parker School: During the summer, children have the opportunity to build a lifelong habit of reading for enjoyment. Students entering grades 1-5 are expected to engage with books for at least 30 minutes each day. Books may be read to, with, and/or by your child.
Below you will find grade level booklists, a reading log, and a reading response page. Your child, with your help if needed, is expected to record each book read on the reading log. From the log, he/she will select his/her favorite book and complete a reading response page. During the first two weeks of school, your child’s new teacher will ask for your child’s reading log and reading response page. Your child will be recognized for his or her participation with a certificate and a segment on Bill E. Rica the Bookworm, a visual display of summer reading in each elementary school.
