My Name: Michelle Paquin

My Title: Children's and Young Adult Librarian

How Long Have I Been At The Library? Eight years?  Nine years?  I don't know.  Why count when you know you're here to stay.

My Favorite Part Of The Job? Wow, that's a tough one.  I absolutely love my job, but if I have to choose, right now, I'd have to say creating Young Adult Programs.    Game shows seem to be a big hit this year.  That's great for me because I've secretly aspired to become a game show host.  How does Michelle Philbin sound?  Doesn't everybody want to be a millionaire?

What Do I Like To Read? I tend to read Young Adult and Children's fiction.  I rarely pick up an adult novel.  Why read 600 pages of love, romance, terror and turmoil when you can read a 250 page Young Adult novel and end up with the same results -- short and sweet.

What Is My Favorite Book?  That's not fair!  How do you ask a librarian to choose one book out of millions to be her favorite?  I'm not the type of person to reread books.  Once an adventure is over, I move on to another one.  But, I do have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed the True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi, I Have Lived A Thousand Years by Bitton-Jackson and the Harry Potter series.

What's My Favorite Movie? I'd have to say the Indiana Jones Trilogy.  As a kid I always thought it would be exciting to find/search for a hidden treasure.  Imagine unearthing something that had been hidden for thousands of years!  To this day, my head is always looking down trying to find an interesting stone on the beach or trinket on the ground.

Other Than Reading, What Do I Like To Do When I'm Not Working? My job and my family are my life.  Sounds pathetic, but I'm happy.  I don't have time for many hobbies but I can tell you I love a good factory tour -- Ben and Jerry's, Vermont Teddy Bear,  The Crayola Factory, and Hershey are just a few of my favorites.  Can you think of any I missed?  Email me at Mpaquin@mvlc.org.

An Interesting Fact About Me: This one took me awhile to figure out.  For breakfast, I like to eat Cheerios and melted butter.  Oh, don't look so disgusted.  It's very good.  You put melted butter on popcorn, don't you?  Same idea, just as tasty.
