My Name: Priscilla Vaughn

My Title: Assistant Director

What Is My Job At The Library? I spend some of my day “manning” one of the public service desks. I try to help out wherever there is need for an extra pair of hands. My job also entails: ordering materials for the 800 section of the nonfiction collection, assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Library, running a monthly book discussion group, and working with the devoted adult volunteers. I am the Library Liaison to the Family Friends of the Library – the nonprofit fundraising organization of the Library. I so enjoy working with the Family Friends. I admire these people and their dedication to raising money for and awareness of the Library.

How Long Have I Worked At The Library? 15 years

What Is My Favorite Part Of The Job? Public Service – I am a real “people person”. I love to meet and interact with the patrons.

What Do I Like To Read? I am a fiction reader. I especially enjoy historical fiction and the “family saga”.

What Is My Favorite Book? Whatever I am reading at the time. I am not one to go back and reread a book.

What Is Your Favorite Movie? Same Time Next Year with Alan Alda and Ellen Burstyn. Not only was the theme thought provoking I also loved the montage that carried the movie from one decade to another. Like rereading books, I rarely “rewatch” a movie. Same Time… is the exception.

Other Than Reading, What Do I Like To Do When I'm Not Working? I love to spend time with my family. I also like to knit (especially afghans). I still enjoy doing cross-stitch but I have found that the holes get smaller and smaller as I get older and older!!

What Is The Most Interesting Fact About You? I am a “little” clumsy. In fact, I cannot “walk and chew gum at the same time.” In my former career as a third grade science teacher, I was doing an experiment with live crickets. While bringing them to my classroom, I tripped and dropped the crickets. Boy! Can those critters move fast! For one entire week after the spill, anyone walking the second floor corridor was serenaded by crickets. Enough said!!
