Closing FAQs

We have heard from our patrons and want to share some of the most common questions we have received so far, as we strive to offer what resources and services we can during our closure to the public.

We do not have a set date to reopen to the public at this time and will remain closed until it is deemed safe for our staff and patrons to reopen.

We are accepting returns of library items in our outside book drops as of Wednesday May 20th.

If you need to return specialty items, please call 978-671-0948 ext. 3 to arrange a return.

Yes! Out of an abundance of caution, we are quarantining all returned items for 72 hours before placing them back into circulation based on guidance from the Northeast Document Conservation Center.

No worries!  We are renewing all overdue items and suspending fines and fees.  We are also accepting returns via our book drops starting on Wednesday May 20.

Those who had holds that were on the shelf when we closed have been contacted.  Holds that were placed but had not arrived are being frozen until the library reopens and deliveries between libraries resume.

At this time, we have cancelled all AARP tax preparation appointments with no plan to reschedule them, since we do not know when we will reopen.  Please see the IRS Website for alternative filing options: https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
