Summer Reading Kick Off Night!

June 18, 6:30  For teens and their families

Come kick-off our “Neverland: An Adventure Awaits” summer reading program with a FREE hotdog and snack (while supplies last).

Students in grades 5-12 who register that night for the Young Adult Summer Reading Program will get bonus raffle tickets and a goody bag filled with some sweet swag.  While supplies last.

Second Star to the Right and Straight to the Library!

Weather permitting.  This event will take place on the COA lawn.

Lost Boys Bingo

June 24th, 3:00-4:15   Online registration required starting June 3rd

Join us for our annual Candy Bar Bingo.  Bring in a regular sized chocolate or candy bar and receive a bingo card.  Limit 1-3 chocolate bars/cards per person.

Project Runway: Walk the Plank Edition

 June 27th,  2:30-4:30    Online registration required starting June 3rd

Cut, sew, glue, and trim.  Work with a partner to create a pirate themed costume using only the recycled materials in the room.  The catch?  You only have 2 hours to do it!  Prizes awarded to the best costume.

Frosted Fairy/Pirate Jars

July 1st, 2:30-3:45    Online registration required starting June 3rd.

Create these whimsical Neverland themed fairy/pirate light up jars.  We provide all the supplies.   FREE!

Forensic Science Road Show

July 8th, 11:30     Online registration required starting June 18th.

Learn about DNA, fingerprinting, footwear impressions, crime lights and more with retired Massachusetts Forensic Scientist, Paul Zambella.   The Lost Boys might have gotten home sooner if they knew about this.

A Universe of Stories ROOM ESCAPE

July 15th: Please register for only one session

Many voices coming together as 1 team with 1 mission…To ESCAPE!

This program is part of our Building Bridges Connecting Communities Event and is paid for by the Community Fund Grant.

Tie Day Day and Night

July 12th 11-1 and 2-4  and  Wednesday, July 17th, 6:00-8:00 pm    No Registration Required.  All ages.

You bring the 100% cotton  t-shirts, canvas shoes, pillowcases, etc … I’ll provide the dyes.  This will be held outside on the COA lawn opposite the library.  Weather permitting.  Bringing more than one shirt is highly recommended.

Captain Hook's Windjammers

July 23rd, 2:30-3:45  No Registration Required.

DROP IN to the Teen Department.  Experiment on making an air-blown pirate ship using only the materials provided.  Great STEM project.  Can you make it go further?  faster? straighter?

Wendy's Tea & Crumpet Party

July 24th, 6:00-7:30 pm   Online Registration Required starting June 24th. 

Join Chef Debbie Alsebai and make these delightful crumpets with lemon curd and golden syrup.  Learn why Londoners love this treat. We’ll also be sampling loose tea so bring your tea cups!  Space is limited.

Grades 5-12  This program is paid for by Cabot Corporation.

Design Challenge Contest: Eye Spy Edition

July 15th   Start of the Design Challenge Contest.  No Registration Required. Grades 5-12.

Create a unique work of art at home using a bag of recycled materials provided by the library.  This year’s challenge is a bit different.  You will also have to create an Eye Spy Poem to go along with your work.  See authors Walter Wick and Jean Marzollo for examples.  The rules are slightly different this year so read them carefully.  Each piece will be judged by a panel of librarians, patrons, artists, etc… Prizes will be awarded based on the number of entries submitted and by grade levels.  See the Teen Librarian for more details.  Limited supplies.

Pick up your bag of materials in the Children’s or Young Adult Department starting July 15th until August 27th!  WHILE SUPPLIES LAST.

Tinkerbell Clothes Pin Fairies

July 26th, 2:30   Online registration required starting June 24th.  

Design a pixie-dust inspired clothespin fairy.  All materials and snacks provided.

DIY Fairy Gardens

July 29th, 2:30-3:45    Online registration required starting June 24th. 

A fairy garden is a miniature garden complete with structures and actual living plants.  It is designed to lure whimsical fairies like Tinkerbell and bring good luck to your home.  You’ll be planting and designing your own gardens to take home.  Don’t want fairies?  Gnomes will be provided too!  We provide all of the materials including the plants.

"Hook"ed on Trivia

July 30th, 2:30  Online registration required starting June 24th. 

Tick Tock… Tick Tock… Do you think you know a lot… about Captain Hook and all his Neverland friends?  Try a game of trivia! Eat Snacks! Win Prizes!

Mastermind's Neverland Adventures

August 1st, 1:00-3:00  Online registration required starting July 8th. 

Join professionals from Mastermind Adventures for some hearty sword fighting, archery, team building and more… Can you survive a Neverland Adventure?  Nerf and similar products will be used.  This event may be held outdoors. Sunblock and water suggested.

Library After Dark Party

August 9th,  9:00-11:00 pm  Online Registration Required.

Ever wonder what it’s like in the library after the lights are out and we’re closed for the night?
