Narwhal and Jelly Book Group (Books Alive with Salem) Five)

Narwhal is a happy-go-lucky narwhal. Jelly is a no-nonsense jellyfish. The two might not have a lot in common, but they do they love waffles, parties and adventures.  Dive into the fun with Narwhal and Jelly as they discover the whole wide ocean together.

This “Fin-tastic” book-talk will be filled with fun activities and a cool craft! Space is Limited!

"If You Give a Pig a Pancake" (Books Alive With Salem Five) Book program

Tuesday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. 

If you read the book, you’ll want to attend the program. If you want to attend the program, you’ll want to make a craft! If you make a craft, you’ll definitely have FUN!  So don’t miss the fun–register today for this Book Talk adventure -as space is limited!

“If You Give a Pig a Pancake,” by Laura Numeroff  shows the silly scenerio of “if you give a pig a pancake, she’ll want some syrup to go with it. You’ll give her some of your favorite maple syrup. She’ll probably get all sticky, so she’ll want to take a bath.” You get the idea. Baths lead to bubbles, bubbles lead to rubber ducks, rubber ducks lead to wanting a trip to the farm…and the laughter continues from there!

Lionheart Puppets presents "Jack Tuesday - Fairy Tale Investigator"

Wednesday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m. 

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep and doesn’t know where to find them.  Jack Tuesday’s the guy who can figure out why someone would try to hide them.
On a chase through the city to the homes of three piggies and other popular tales, he’ll track down the thief who has stolen the sheepand make sure that the thief lands in jail.

"Fire & Ice" program presented by Mad Science of Southern MA/RI (for kids in grades K-6 only)

This spectacular show for children thrills audiences with impressive science experiments. The event includes foggy dry ice storms and demonstrates how giant beach balls can float in the air. We demonstrate fire’s use of oxygen to pull an egg “magically” into a flask! Students are amazed by sizzling, shivering scissors and special bubbly showers!

The show engages students with songs, comedy, dancing, animals and sophisticated music technology. The show is a great time for parents, teachers and caregivers. Buzz Boy and Fly Guy! (Books Alive With Salem Five) Ages 5-9

Mr. Matt from Turtle Dance Music offers this exciting program which features wonderful classic and original children’s songs and tales about being under the sea! The show engages children with songs, comedy, bubbles, and music technology. We will also discuss why it is important to keep our oceans clean and how to protect our oceans from harmful things like microplastics.  Kids will dance, sing, laugh, use their imaginations and connect with new friends. The show is crafted to be inclusive for all children, including children on the Autism Spectrum, and a great time for parents and teachers!   “Turtle Dance Music helps kids come out of their shell!”

Treehouse Treasure Club: Buffalo Before Breakfast (grades K-4)

For this month’s program we will be reading, “Buffalo Before Breakfast” by Mary Pope Osborne. Travel with Jack and Annie as the Magic Tree House
takes them to the Great Plains where they learn about the life of the Lakota Indians.

Reading with Rudy, the Therapy Dog (ages 5-9)

Saturday, May 18 at 1:00 p.m.

Come to the library to read to Rudy, a certified reading therapy dog!  Children, ages 5-9, will enjoy one-on-one time reading aloud to this gentle, comforting, 4-year old Black Lab as they practice their fluency and strengthen their confidence in reading.

Children may bring their own book from home or choose to read one from the library collection.

Online, required registration starts Monday, April 29 at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited.  Please choose one, 15-minute block for your child to read to Rudy.
