Give a Mouse a Cookie! program (Books Alive with Salem Five)

Hey, kids! Come celebrate “If You Give a Mouse a Cookie” by Laura Numeroff at this fun book program!

Join us for a fun filled book-talk with Laura Numeroff’s, “If you Give a Mouse a Cookie.”  A book talk, snack, activities and a fun craft will all be part of this laugh-a-minute adventure!  Each participant will receive a free copy of “If  You Give a Mouse a Cookie” book –as our gift to you!

Sweetpea Baby Meet-n-Greet

Thursday, February 2 at 10:00 a.m.

For ages 0-2

Calling all little “sweet peas” and their caregivers!  Our program room will be open with age-appropriate toys and music so you can meet other babies and adults!  Feel free to drop in and play (no registration required)!  Families will receive a complimentary, brand-new board book to take home and read with your child!

Discovery Kids: Domestic and Wild Animals

Thursday, February 2 from 3:45 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

For ages 4-9

Join us for ‘DISCOVERY KIDS’, our series of afterschool, interactive, enrichment programs for children ages 4 – 9, which expose kids to the wonders of our scientific and natural world.

Come to this fun program with Drumlin Farm Kids! Meet a rabbit and a duck and explore the differences between wild and domestic animals by observing and comparing native wildlife and New England farm animals.

Online, required registration starts Monday, October 17 at 9:00 a.m.  Click here to register for the 3:45 p.m. time slot and here to register for the 4:30 p.m. time slot. Children will go into the program without their parents/caregivers.

Treehouse Treasure Club: Midnight on the Moon

For grades K-4

Calling all Magic Tree House fans! For this month’s program we will be reading, “Midnight on the Moon” by Mary Pope Osborne.  Online, required registration starts Saturday, January 21 and participants can pick up the book starting that day as well.  Read the book and on February 4, we will discuss it and enjoy some fun activities in the library.  Participants will keep the book as well!

Reading with Rudy, The Therapy Dog (ages 5-9)

Saturday, February 4 starting at 2:00 p.m.

For ages 5-9

Come to the Billerica Public Library to read to Rudy, a certified reading therapy dog!

Children will enjoy one-on-one time reading aloud to this gentle, comforting, 4-year old black lab as they practice their fluency and strengthen their confidence in reading. Children may bring their own book from home or use one from the library.

Online, required registration starts Monday, January 9 at 9:00 a.m. Space is limited. Please choose one 15 minute block to read to Rudy. 2:00 p.m., 2:15 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:00 p.m..

Books & Babies with Miss Laura

Wednesday, February 8 at 10:00 a.m. 

For ages 0-2

Enjoy several stories, lap bounces, and rhymes with your little one, including a special reading of Disney Frozen Olaf’s 1-2-3! BONUS! Each family will receive a free copy of Disney Frozen Olaf’s 1-2-3! to be picked up at the program!

Reading Rocks! (virtual) The Music, Bubble and Comedy Show with Mr. Matt!

For all ages!  This is a virtual show!

A high-energy music and comedy show, Why Reading Rocks! encourages reading and a love of books by engaging kids (and adults!) with songs, comedy, bubbles, and music technology. Best of all, it’s inclusive for all kids, including those on the autism spectrum. Each song is designed to help kids learn, dance, sing, and have fun, all while learning why reading is so important for their future and a great way to spend their free time.

"Home is Where the Heart Is" Animal Show

Tuesday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. 

Presented by Animal World Experience for children of all ages

From lizard lounges to millipede mansions, learn about a variety of different shelters animals build and use. During this exciting, live, animal program, you will begin to understand the many ways in which they are similar to as well as different from our own homes. Kids will also learn a new respect for nature when they realize how hard animals work on these basic shelters, just so they can survive in the wild.

This event will be held on the main floor of the library.

Maple Sugaring! presented by Land's Sake Farm of Weston (ages 4-8)
